iPad mini announced!

Apple announced an iPad mini that is as thin as pencil and weighs just over half a pound, as light as a pad of paper. It has a 7.9" display. Apple has made the iPad so that it has the same resolution as the 1024 x 768 iPad 2, so no extra work for developers. It sports a 720p FaceTime HD camera, a 5MP iSight camera, and a dual core A5 chip, as well as having LTE. And even though it's a smaller form factor, it still has a 10-hour battery life! It starts at $329 for a 16GB Wi-Fi only.

Live streaming of the Apple event today

Today is another big day! Apple
has scheduled an event for 10:00 AM PDT where the rumors are that they will release the long-awaited iPad mini. Apple decided to live stream this event, something they haven't done for awhile. Usually Apple releases the video later in the day, but there hasn't been a live stream in a couple years. That's all changed now! Apple Store down for updates

The Apple Store is being updated right now... Could this mean they are releasing something?

Cnet and Sam R. Hill have both posted articles suggesting a Mountain Lion release. However, according to the Mac Rumors guide, both the Mac mini and the iMac are due for an upgrade anytime now. Stay tuned for more news...

Update July 18th: False alarm! Looks like Apple was just doing routine maintenance. No Mountain Lion, nothing.

However, I have a theory that Apple took the store down to add all the Mountain Lion stuff in the backend, so that the release will be a surprise, as the store won't go down the night before. All Apple has to do is throw a switch, and boom, Mountain Lion is released. Just a theory...and I'm sticking to it. :-)

Apple announced Q2 earnings for 2012

Apple released its Q2 2012 earnings on April 24th. The company sold over 35 million iPhones in this last quarter, down from 37 million iPhones in Q1 of this year (Q1 report). Apple sold over 11 million iPads, as well as more than 7 million iPods, and 4 million Macs. The sales have decreased a bit from last quarter's earnings, but Apple is certainly still growing. WWDC 2012 to begin on June 11?

Techradar and Cult of Mac have both reported that WWDC 2012 may be set for the week of June 11th. A mysterious "Corporate Event" has been booked at the Moscone Center. There hasn't been any official news, but the "Corporate Event" seems very likely to be Apple's WWDC conference. See the Moscone Center schedule or the screenshot below.

Techradar has said that it thinks iOS 6 may be unveiled this summer as well as the release of OS X Mountain Lion. Both Techradar and Cult of Mac say that we won't see the iPhone 5 this summer, but rather Apple will release it this fall, as with the iPhone 4S.

Funny things Siri says
